The Resident Assistant provides direct and indirect care to 16 year olds to geriatric to meet their physical, educational, psychosocial and spiritual needs. The Resident Assistant also functions as a communication link between the residential outpatients and counseling staff. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Implements and abides by Customer Service Standards.
EDUCATION
High School Graduate or equivalent with 2 years post secondary training in related field including courses in psychology, sociology, and/or addictions preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Six months experience in nursing assistant or similar role preferred. Orientation will be provided to obtain desired level of
competence in lieu of chemical dependency experience. Experience with computers and typing skills preferred. Orientation and training will be given to obtain the desired entry level competence, in lieu, of experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to effectively handle escalating behavior.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required prior to completion of unit orientation.
Any persons who have direct client contact must have been free of chemical use problems for at least the one year immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact. Chemical use problems includes the following:
Receiving treatment for chemical use within the period specified for the position in the staff qualification requirements; Chemical use that has a negative impact on the staff members job performance;
Chemical use that affects the credibility of the treatment services with clients, referral sources or other members of the community; and Symptoms of intoxication or withdrawal on the job.
