Performs and documents comprehensive physical therapy evaluations.
2. Develops and documents patient care plans to promote optimal function and safety.
3. Observes, evaluates, and documents patient's progress.
4. Participates in hospital rounds and patient care conferences.
5. Educates patients and care givers on therapeutic techniques, cares and treatments.
6. Completes all documentation and charges of services per departmental standards.
7. Functions as a clinical instructor for physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students.
8. Directs and supervises activities performed by the PT aides consistent with their training and skill
(patient transfers, patient transport, preparation of patient and equipment for treatment, selected
treatment procedures, clerical duties and departmental maintenance).
9. Directs and supervises selected physical therapy interventions performed by physical therapist
assistants.
10. Properly applies and operates rehabilitative equipment.
11. Develops and conducts physical therapy in-services for other staff.
12. Orients and mentors newly assigned staff.
13. Serves as a clinical resource for other staff.
14. Participates in program development.
15. Represents the physical therapy department on committees and provides consultation to other
departments and agencies as assigned.
16. Assumes responsibilities of the supervisor as assigned during the supervisors absence.
17. Provides work direction for clerical staff.
18. Assists in monitoring the quality of physical therapy activities and services.
19. Functions as a resource for departmental policies and procedures.
-Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy.
-Must possess a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the Minnesota State Physical Therapy Board .
Prefered:
-Graduation from an accredited school of Physical Therapy PLUS a minimum of 3 years of experience at a similar facility or 2 years of experience plus 1 year at HCMC.
-Must possess a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the Minnesota State Physical Therapy Board.
