Assures the timely and accurate filling of medication orders. Provides information and/or consultation to the patient and other health care professionals in the correct use of those medications.
Participates in clinical monitoring programs of inpatients (IV to PO, renal dosing, TPN, formulary interchanges, interdisciplinary rounds, etc.)
Mentors/precepts pharmacy students and residents.
Compounds and dispenses medications according to all regulations and standards of practice.
Maintains professional growth and development.
Provides drug education to physicians, nurses, other health care professionals and patients.
Provides supervision of professional, technical and clerical staff.
Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job.
Performs other related duties as required.
B.S. in Pharmacy or PharmD degree. Minnesota licensure required
Pharmacy Practice Residency preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good communication skills;
Strong attention to detail;
Knowledge of and ability to use computer and keyboard;
Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric) served by the Pharmacy. Knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span. Ability to assess data reflective of the patients status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients needs in relation to age, and provide the care needed as described in the Pharmacy Policies & Procedures.
