Job Description

Assumes accountability as the system clinical education representative. Serves as the liaison between site and system clinical education. Coordinate education activities and functions of HealthEast patient care services. Acts as a resources and consultant to the HealthEast continuum of care in the development of staff. Assess education needs of MCC nursing staff throughout HealthEast. Plan, implement and evaluate educational offerings based on needs including performance improvement and RCA follow-up. Develop and maintain a plan to educate entry level MCC staff. Develop and implement competency evaluation tools for MCC to include annual competence review tool. Collaborate with Clinical Directors, Managers, CNS and unit educators to plan and implement education, including multidisciplinary education. Act as a resource for MCC staff. Coordinate policy and procedure review and revision. Coordinate with NNPs, Neonatal Director re: education needs including the STABLE program. Oversee/coordinate fetal monitoring education. Collaborate with Surgery and Anesthesia. Oversee and inspire performance of unit preceptors. Update Edunet with MCC specific mandatory education. Coordinate emergency drills, multidisciplinary simulations and maintain mannequins. Collaborate with Informatics. Coordinate product trials.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate competency based orientation and education programs for MCC specific and HealthEast wide.

Perform appropriate clinical activities to ensure basic clinical competencies.

Identifies department education/training needs and assists individual department directors curriculum development and organization of orientation, in-services and on-the-job training programs.

Contribute to effective operation of hospital-based education department to meet needs and expectations of HealthEast and its customers.

Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of the job to ensure appropriate maintenance of all privacy related issues.

Performs all other related duties as requested to meet departmental needs.


Graduate of accredited school of Nursing, Bachelors Degree in Nursing or health related field required. Masters degree in nursing or health care related field preferred.

Five to seven years experience in perinatal nursing. Two years in planning and implementing educational programs. Experience as preceptor/clinical educator, or experience that demonstrates aptitude for education / training.

Experience with multi-media technology;
