The Patient Care Manager position manages one or more defined areas of patient care services. The manager advocates for and maximizes the use of available resources to ensure the delivery of efficient, safe, and compassionate patient care based on current standards of practice. The manager has accountability for nursing practice in all areas of responsibility. The manager will provide leadership to promote shared decision making and professional autonomy of staff members by providing collaborative processes that actively solicit input from key stakeholders (leaders, staff, physicians, and Allina practice committees) to produce staff ownership of decisions. The leader will foster a culture of accountability, excellence and staff participation/engagement supported by processes that provide timely information regarding performance and department-specific activities and accomplishments. The Patient Care Manager position coordinates activities between defined areas and provides clinical management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and the other healthcare disciplines and staff throughout the organization. This position has a major responsibility for the implementation of the organization's mission, vision, values, code of conduct, evidence-based practice, and nursing practice within their defined areas of responsibility. The Patient Care Manager position is accountable for the environment in which clinical nursing is practiced. This position must create a learning environment that is open and respectful, and promotes the sharing of expertise to promote the benefits of health outcomes. The Patient Care Manager is responsible for the recruitment and retention of clinical staff with diverse backgrounds, appropriate education and experience.
RN hires with less than 1 year of RN experience must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing (American Association of Colleges of Nursing or The National League for Nursing) which is inclusive of a clinical rotation in an acute care facility.
