Provides immediate medical assessment, treatment and follow-up advice to the general public and health care providers regarding poisoning exposures via telephone.
Provides drug information to public and professional callers.
Researches and provides answers to questions relevant to clinical toxicology and drug information.
Accurately records medical case information utilizing computerized data collection software.
Supervises and provides consultation to Poison Information Providers.
Acts consistently with all HRPC policies, procedures and clinical guidelines and refers all calls outside the scope of their position.
Participates in case review and quality assurance activities.
Provides public and professional education to all audiences.
Provides clinical instruction and supervision to pharmacy students, medical residents and toxicology fellows. May precept PharmD student rotations.
Participates in the training of new pharmacists and poison information providers.
Successfully completes the American Association of Poison Controls Specialist in Poison Information certification exam when eligible.
Graduation from college with a degree in Pharmacy.
Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution
Certified Specialist in Poison Information certification from the American Association of Poison Control Centers
Possession of a valid license to practice pharmacy in the State of Minnesota.
