The Claims Analyst is responsible for the timely submission and resolution of all insurance claims per regulatory, payer and Corporate Compliance requirements for the hospital. Functions as a resource in the area of third party, State and Federal Government payers. Responsible for integrating system and hospital practice management and other available system technologies into the billing process consistent with Corporate Guidelines. Implements and abides by Customer Service Standards. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients, their families and with co-workers.
Associates Degree from a vocational or business college in computers, insurance required; or four years experience in lieu of education.
Minimum of two years hospital billing required. Proficient computer skills required. Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare billing and third party payer requirements. Experience in a hospital or clinic environment working with third party payers, billing, and terminology preferred. Knowledge of health insurance, CPT codes, ICD9 Codes, UB 04 form locators, Revenue Codes required. Basic communication skills, computerized office applications, and customer relations principles. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner with attention to detail and accuracy.
Current CPAT or CCAT certification through AAHAM preferred. Epic Certification preferred.
