JOB SUMMARY
Assembly of patient charts, gathering and filing of necessary information for pre-op patients. Maintains clerical integrity in the handling of patient records.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Graduate; verifiable satisfactory completion of a Health Unit Coordinator course; OR (See Experience).
Experience: Equivalent previous on-the-job training. Six (6) months previous HUC.

Experience: Secretarial or general office experience. Previous clerical experience in Surgical Services.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Legible handwriting, demonstrated organizational skills, displays proper telephone etiquette; ability to communicate with people in a courteous, tactful manner. Ability to cope with interruptions. Ability to understand and accurately follow complex written and oral communications. Ability to maintain good working relationships with others, coordinate admission orders and diagnostic schedules in timely manner. Knowledge of medical terminology and St. Luke's Surgical Services routines.
READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
WRITING - Basic: Ability to write simple correspondence.
SPEAKING - Basic: Ability to speak simple sentences.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
