Job Description

Communicates with Central Processing Department (CPD) Manager, nursing, and operations on all supply and instrument tray changes.
Monitors and maintains inventory to ensure an adequate level of sterile supplies and instrumentation including ordering implants in the absence of OR stock clerk.
Orders storeroom and direct purchase supplies for CPD areas.
Recalls supplies due to malfunction of sterilizers.
Provides supervisory level direction and support in planning, organizing, and coordinating the activities of the CPD, occasionally through subordinate leads.
Counsels and disciplines staff, including enforcing departmental policies, according to hospital and department policies, procedures and attendance records.
Coordinates the orientation of new employees.
Schedules staff and receives final approval from CPD Manager, brings vacation and leave of absences (LOA) days to CPD Manager for approval.
Responds to emergency situations, problems, special requests and routine inquiries.
Assists in evaluation of new products, when needed. Records evaluations.
Ensures the proper handling, storage and rotation of all sterile supplies.
Assumes duties of CPD Manager in his/her absence.
Check all log books for accuracy (B.I., GI Scope, etc.)
Maintains records of sterilizers and flash sterilizers including biological and chemical monitoring as well as the results of ETO monitoring of environment and personnel.
Maintains competence and professional development.
Ensures staff is meeting production requirements by addressing problems and obstacles in a timely fashion.
Sets clear direction and priorities through the identification and implementation of effective processes and procedures for accomplishing work. Clarifies roles and responsibilities. Delegates as appropriate.
Monitors FTEs and utilizes staff and other resources efficiently and effectively, within own departmentand collaboratively across Supply Chain.
Builds and develops staff; fosters collaboration within and across Supply Chain.
Achieves organizational goals through coaching, providing feedback, setting performance goals, and motivating staff to meet and exceed those goals.
Manages continuous quality improvement initiatives and participates in Lean events. Defines standards for department performance (customer satisfaction, financial, productivity, etc.) and evaluates business unit/department performance against those standards.
Adheres to HCMC policies and procedures as well as complies with applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, distributing and restocking inventory/supplies for designated area of responsibility.
Assumes duties of Surgical Services Supply/Repair Coordinator in their absence.
Responsible for organizing and ensuring cleanliness of all area(s).
Responsible for timely shipment and/or internal delivery of inventory, supplies or mail.
Other duties as assigned after appropriate training.


Knowledge of and experience with Peoplesoft preferred.
Knowledge of and experience with Lean preferred.
Preferred Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification or the ability to obtain it within 24 months of hire.
