This position requires the incumbent to provide the clinical evaluation and educational skills of an athletic trainer. The incumbent must be able to work in a variety of settings including high school, collegiate, professional, clinical, and with the general public in both athletic training. Clinical practice is defined by the domain of athletic training as established by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification and by applicable state law. Hours worked vary upon the needs of the various athletic programs served and events scheduled. Weekends and evenings work is expected.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Evaluation of athletic/orthopedic injuries and sports related illnesses. 70% of these duties would be at the Division II intercollegiate level.
Design, implement and evaluate treatment and rehabilitation programs for athletic and orthopedic injuries, including the appropriate referral of injuries to other members of the medical community.
Advise, consult and serve as resource on athletic and orthopedic injuries and on athletic training to athletes, parents, physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapist, citizens, students, coaches, and all other parties with an interest in sports medicine.
Expected to participate as a member of athletic training outreach and physical therapy/sports medicine staff's sharing mutual goals and a common mission.
Demonstrates good interpersonal skills with all whom they interact. All communication, written and verbal should demonstrate a commitment to customer service and excellence.
Presents a positive image of self and of the health care system in all work undertaken and other interactions.
Is timely in meeting his/her job responsibilities and strives to provide excellent customer service. In so doing, demonstrates a commitment to quality and excellence and works to contribute ways to continually improve processes related to service delivery and stewardship of resources.
4-year degree in related field of study.
Registered as an athletic trainer in the State of Minnesota by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice.
Valid Drivers License.
Certification as an athletic trainer by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification.
Basic computer skills. Word. Excel. Outlook.
BLS, ACLS, masters degree prefered.
