Job Description


High School education. Preferred - Completion of an accredited program for pharmacy technicians.


Six (6) months of related experience in a hospital, community or institutional pharmacy may substitute for the training requirement.

Knowledge, Skills

& Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology and medical abbreviations
Knowledge of sterile technique and ability to work in laminar flow hood
Basic mathematical skills to compute proportions and compounds
Ability to type/keyboard
Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak English
Knowledge of brand and generic drug names
Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to prescriptions
Knowledge of insurance plan rules relating to eligible drugs
Knowledge of computerized pharmacy record keeping and credit procedures
Knowledge of hospital or retail pharmacys procedures for filling, dispensing and billing prescriptions.
Ability to use computers, automated dispensing machines, auto-mix and micro-mix equipment, medication safety system, medication packager, narcotics safe, prescription scanning/filling/checking system


Registered as a pharmacy technician with the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy and have current certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
