Gives general nursing care within the LPN scope of practice. Basic nursing care includes comfort measures, personal hygiene and procedures for which the approved LPN educational programs have prepared. Receives assistance from the full scope of nursing expertise. Has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate age-related patient care protocols relating to patients' physical and psychological needs. Knowledge of the principles and skills needed for nursing to provide patient care and treatment. Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients. Knowledge of patient end of life goals and helping patient reach those goals. Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe homecare environment. Skill in administering a variety of treatments and medications as directed. Skill in taking vital signs. Skill in documenting and maintaining records. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, health care providers, and the public.
Work hours include 12 hour shifts, rotating nights/weekends/holidays. Care is delivered to patients of all ages.
Must possess a Licensed Practical Nurse License in the state practicing. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing for Licensed Practical Nurse.
