The nurse assistant contributes to the nursing process by performing patient care and non-patient care activities as delegated by a licensed nurse.
Assist geriatric patients experiencing acute behavioral crisis. working under direction of nursing and medical staff: supervise patients to ensure their safety and well-being, observe patient behavior reporting any changes in behavior or health to medical staff, assisting patients with ADLs as needed, leading or assisting patients in various group activities, provide therapeutic de-escalation and deliver care according to the patients plan of care.
Certification and registration with the Minnesota Board of Nursing Assistant Registry is preferred. Certification is required if designated by law (i.e. Home Care). Must have good human relations and communication skills. Must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the licensed nurse. Must be able to acquire a basic knowledge of patient care principles, medical terminology and equipment within the assigned service area.
