Job Description

Sanford Health Internship Program aims to provide our interns with challenging, real-world projects specific to their career path. A IT Security Intern will contribute to Sanford operations and processes while obtaining first-hand experience that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Individuals applying for a spring internship must be from within a 100-mile radius of the internship location and must commit to working 20-32 hours per week on-site until the maximum of 384 hours is met or another end date is agreed upon. Shifts are flexible based on your class schedule. Spring internship session start date is January 15, 2018.


The IT Intern must possess the skills necessary for understanding written policies and procedures, project a positive attitude and good customer service skills, perform various functions under the supervision of the respective IT Director, Manager or Project Manager, and participate in the overall operations of the designated area of the department. The IT Intern must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, the ability to learn and problem solve, a fundamental working knowledge of computers and utilize the technology necessary for performing the job. This individual will obtain the vision and values that are compatible with the organization. Assist the Cyber Security and Information Security Center in daily work and projects. Administer and review access control for compliance with security policy and standards. Performs audits and assessments including security system logs for noncompliant events or potential security threats.


Must be a Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Computer Network Security, Cyber Security, Network Administration, Computer Science or an immediate graduate having received one of the previously listed majors or other computer related field of study. Must be able to commit to the hours scheduled during the 12-week internship. Must have good human relations and communications skills; must be able to follow procedures and instructions given by the leadership staff. Must have strong problem solving, leadership, and analytical skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Products.
