Job Description

CentraCare is looking for a Family Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work 40 hours every two weeks (Part Time) in our Sexual & Gender Medicine Clinic. There is potential for the hours to increase after 1 year. Experience with transgender care and adolescent's a plus. The ideal candidate needs to be willing to be a strong LGBTQ ally, desire autonomy and independence, interested in developing a niche skill set within a developing specialty and interested in a unique team-based model of care.

Family Nurse Practitioner

The Family Nurse Practitioner is a member of the Sexual and Gender Medicine Clinic health care team. The Nurse Practitioner provides direct, high quality patient care services requiring extensive skills and competency. These skills and competencies are maintained through defined LBGTQ healthcare continuing education. The Nurse Practitioner makes independent and collaborative health care decisions. The Nurse Practitioner practices within the scope of practice as defined by certification/licensure standards and state and federal regulations.
Dependent on the needs of the clinic, the Nurse Practitioner may have a clinic, hospital, or combined clinic and hospital practice setting.
Dependent on the needs of the clinic, the Nurse Practitioner may be primarily focused on the primary care of TGNC individuals, medical gender affirmation interventions, and sexual health needs of LGBTQ people.
Dependent on the needs of the clinic, the Nurse Practitioner may be primarily focused on sexual dysfunction evaluation and treatment.
The Nurse Practitioner follows established protocols and collaborates with physicians, however, does have day-to-day independence in health care decisions. Maintains professional competencies by attending educational programs, participates in professional organizations, subscribing to the reading professional journals or other appropriate activities.

EDUCATION
Graduate from a formal Family Practice Nurse Practitioner program approved by a national accrediting agency. Master's degree in Nursing preferred.

EXPERIENCE
Previous Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
Experience in transgender healthcare preferred.
Demonstrated skills in organizational management, leadership, communication and clinical expertise required.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Minnesota required.
Current certification by a national certification organization recognized by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing (ANA, PNCB).
Current licensure as an APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) in the State of Minnesota required.
Successful completion of medical staff office credentialing must be completed prior to working without a preceptor.
Successful completion of third party payer credentialing must be completed prior to billing for services.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required per established policy.
Maintain CME requirements to maintain certification.
Maintain sexual health and transgender health CME requirements established by SGM Clinic.
