Job Description

The Neurosurgery APP will be doing a combination of Surgical, Hospital and Clinic work while working an on-call weekday and weekend rotation.

Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive health care under the supervisions of the collaborating physicians. The Nurse Practitioner practice includes, but is not limited to, comprehensive health care assessment, diagnosis, initiation of appropriate care and treatment and continuous outcome monitoring of the patient population. Medical/clinical supervision is received from the Center's medical directors and supervision of non-medical/non-clinical areas is received by the Site Coordinator. The Nurse Practitioner follows established protocols and collaborates with physicians, however, has day-to-day independence in health care decisions. The Nurse Practitioner establishes a philosophy of patient and family centered care in all patient care practices.

EDUCATION
Must have a registered nurse license in Minnesota, have successfully completed a formal nurse practitioner program approved by a national accrediting agency and be certified by a national certification organization recognized by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.

EXPERIENCE
Previous experience as a nurse practitioner is preferred. Previous experience with managed care is preferred

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Minnesota required.
Current certification by a national certification organization recognized by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.
Current licensure as an APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) in the State of Minnesota required.
Successful completion of medical staff office credentialing must be completed prior to working without a preceptor.
Successful completion of third party payer credentialing must be completed prior to billing for services.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required per established policy.

Physician Assistant

The Physician Assistant provides comprehensive health care under the supervisions of the collaborating physicians. The Physician Assistant practice includes, but is not limited to, comprehensive health care assessment, diagnosis, initiation of appropriate care and treatment and continuous outcome monitoring of the patient population. Medical/clinical supervision is received from the Center's medical directors and supervision of non-medical/non-clinical areas is received by the Site Coordinator. Completion of a formal physician assistant program approved by a national accrediting agency required (accredited on behalf of the AMA, American Medical Association or CAHEA, the Committee on Allied Health Education & Accreditation).
