We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our exceptional service line at Coborn Cancer Center. Utilizes advanced assessment and physical examination skills to provide general physical/medical care and treatment to hematology and oncology patients ranging in age from 18 years old to old adult within the Coborn Cancer Center.
Flexibility with hours critical especially end of day due to varying end times of patient infusions. Must be comfortable with chemotherapy, infusion therapy, transfusions and have sharp critical thinking skills to manage infusion-related reactions (chemo-biotherapy, infusions and blood transfusion reactions). Independent, motivated, great interpersonal skills, confidence in decision making and ability to work with specialty care. Involved with development and implementation of nursing research and evidenced based practice. This includes development of clinical pathways, evaluation of current practice and mentoring of nursing staff. Able to develop a collaborative partnership with the medical oncologist to grow the role.
The Provider will work 72 hours every two weeks. This position will have the option to work 3 12 hour shifts per week or work 5 shifts week 1 and 4 shifts week 2. The candidate will work between the hours of 7am-7pm. The candidate will not work more than 2 late shifts per week (until 6pm or 7pm) unless scheduled for 3 - 12 hour shifts per week.
There may be other hours in the evening that support the cancer center (meetings, fundraising activities, community events such as Relay for Life and speaking engagements)
Graduate from school of nursing required. Masters Degree in Nursing with formal training as a nurse practitioner in the same specialty area of practice in which they are certified.
Previous experience in a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant role preferred. Oncology experience preferred. Demonstrated competence in teaching, organization, leadership, communication and research. Orientation will be given to obtain desired entry-level competence in lieu of experience.
Nurse Practitioner Qualifications:
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Masters Degree in Nursing with formal training as a nurse practitioner in the same specialty area of practice in which they are certified.
Special Requirements: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of MN required. Current licensure as an APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse) in the State of Minnesota required
Physician Assistant Qualifications:
Education: Graduate from accredited physician assistant program required.
Special Requirements: National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification required. Minnesota Registration required.
10:00 pm - 6:00 am with every other weekend
