JOB SUMMARY: The Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (W.O.C. Nurse) serves as an expert practitioner in the area of the management of ostomies, pressure sores and skin care, wounds and incontinence. The W.O.C. Nurse serves as practitioner, educator, researcher and consultant. The W.O.C. Nurse provides services to inpatients and outpatients. These Advanced Practice RNs also provide hospital based vascular access services. (PICC)
A. EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Minnesota license to practice professional nursing. Masters Degree in Nursing (NP or CNS) with a focus on family or gerontological clinical specialization. Clinical specialty certification required. Successfully completed a Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Education Program. Certification in Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Care Required. Completion of national recognized vascular access certification program. Education or training in supervision and financial management preferred. Strong organizational skills.
