This position will primarily work as a dietary aide, and in a secondary role as cook. The start and end times are variable based on department needs. Performs the day to day activities of the Dietary Department in accordance with current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing our facility and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or Dietitian/Food Service Director that food is received, stored, handled and prepared in a safe and sanitary manner. As well as working the counter/cashier in the cafeteria, this position will wash and sanitize dishes, glasses, utensils, pots and pans and food carts. Complete cleaning assignments according to specific instructions as outlined in the cleaning manual. Meals will also be served in an appetizing manner. All other duties as assigned.
Dietary Aides must have positive customer service skills. We are seeking team players who treat patients, residents, customers and coworkers with understanding, kindness and respect. Qualified candidates must be resourceful problem solvers, who thrive in a fast-paced team environment, and deliver superior quality in all that they do. Prefer previous foodservice work in a health care facility. Ability to problem solve in utilizing tally sheets; to perform basic math equations; ability to discern the difference in size and purpose of serving utensils; ability to perform Point of Sale (POS) transactions including making change, charge functions, and maintain sales receipts, readings and reports; and the ability to understands standard portions and the importance of portion control. Must be able to read, write, understand and verbally communicate in English.
