Job Description

To provide art therapy to individuals and groups. To work in conjunction with other therapists; provide art therapy, art therapy assessments, treatment planning, and referrals to art therapy services for patients at Regions Hospital Mental Health Inpatient, Regions Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program, and DayBridge Partial Hospitalization Program. To participate as an integral member of an interdisciplinary health care team. To develop art therapy curriculum and integrate it into Regions Hospital Mental Health programming. To provide education to other health care professionals on art therapy. To perform other duties as assigned, including providing coverage for other group facilitators. Will be supervised under a Licensed Provider, along with supervision towards LPCC and ATR licensure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Masters in art therapy and clinical counseling from an accredited institution, or currently in an accredited art therapy and clinical counseling graduate program with upcoming completion date within 4 months from date of hire.

Experience:
Previous experience in health or behavioral health setting required.
1 year of supervised art therapy or counseling experience required as an art therapy student.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to facilitate art therapy groups and 1:1 art therapy sessions with patients.
Ability to identify patients who could benefit from 1:1 art therapy sessions.
Capacity to build therapeutic rapport and trust with patients.
Capable of establishing an expressive, creative, and healing environment.
Sets and maintains professional boundaries.
Integrates social, medical, psychotherapeutic data, and art product and process in order to contribute to a treatment plan, to provide appropriate crisis intervention, psychotherapy and patient advocacy.
Collaborate with other professionals to enhance unit programming and to bring art therapy into other disciplines.
Develop art therapy curriculum.
Organize and manage the upkeep of art materials.
Documents art therapy sessions and groups. Considers ethical issues surrounding patients artwork.
Establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, families, co-workers and community organizations.
Sensitivity to cross-cultural issues.
Knowledge of different cultural responses to art-making.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations regarding healthcare funding, civil commitments, child abuse, vulnerable adults, etc.
Support and educate other disciplines when appropriate
Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and/ or independently
Extensive experience in personal art-making.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:

Appropriate licensure for discipline:

Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC), Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB), or working towards registration and board certification.

Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy (BBHT), or working towards LPCC.
