Job Description

Performs CT exams using independent judgment and initiative; prepares patients for CT exams, administers contrast media, and is capable of starting an intravenous catheter. Functions as a resource person for Radiologic Technology Students and Radiologic Technology Interns.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Completion of JRCERT accredited program of Radiologic Technology or ARRT approved equivalent.
Completion of ARRT advanced Computed Tomography certification or active employment with Regions Hospital as a Radiologic Technologist-Specialist agreeing: To complete Regions sponsored basic CT training and documentation within 3 months
To obtain ARRT CT advanced certification within 6 months of hire

Experience:
Prefer 1 year experience as a registered Radiologic Technologist, but not required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of human anatomy and physics related to Radiologic and / or Imaging Technologies.
Knowledge of basic techniques of Radiologic and / or Imaging Technologies.
Knowledge of routines and procedures required to produce quality images for a wide variety of procedures, including advanced and specialized procedures.
Knowledge of safety techniques, including radiation safety, required during radiologic/medical imaging procedures
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of patients, of all ages, cultures and physical conditions.
Ability to work in stressful situations, including emergency situations.
Ability to operate imaging processing equipment, and utilize medical imaging accessory devices.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Must have advanced certification in Computed Tomography from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or active employment with Regions Hospital as a Radiologic Technologist-Specialist agreeing: To complete Regions sponsored basic CT training and documentation within 6 months
To obtain ARRT CT advanced certification within one (1) year of hire
Must complete Regions sponsored IV class within 2 months
BLS is required. (must be from an AHA or ALA sponsored program)
