Job Description

The Mental Health Associate provides patient care to patients experiencing mental illness(es) and their families using de-escalation skills, group dynamics and facilitation. This includes assisting with crisis management, therapeutic programming and milieu management as member of the Mental Health Care team. This role is instrumental in addressing emergent and urgent issues as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

1) Holds a bachelor's or higher degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university; OR

2) Has at least 1 year of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness or related applicable experience;

Knowledge, Skills

& Abilities:
Has a knowledge of the psychological principles of behavior
Able to plan and facilitate therapeutic groups. Experience with planning and facilitation strongly preferred
Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
Able to establish effective relationships with health care team members.
Skill in utilizing psychologically based information to establish good interpersonal relationships
Able to prioritize and organize tasks in a fast paced environment.
Customer service skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to work independently

Licensure/Registration/Certification:

Current CPR/BLS certification
