Job Description

Service excellence is to be centered on patient care and patient relationships and is the responsibility of all employees. Provide a wide variety of confidential clerical, secretarial and administrative support to the department management and provider staff. Assist patients, physician and health professional with completion of correspondence, including forms, letters and reports, to perform release of medical information duties in accordance with medical-legal guidelines and to respond to questions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum three (3) years of personal computer experience.

Minimum two (2) years of experience in office setting providing administrative support.

Must meet one of the following requirements:

One year experience related to billing, release of medical information and forms completion.

Two years of medical insurance experience including release of information, workers compensation, third party claims, or no fault.

Prefer: Completion of a certificate from a Health Career Program, including course work in medical legal guidelines, business communications, and medical office procedures, or Medical Secretary program completion.

Prefer: One year experience with completion of course work in medical legal guidelines, business communications, and medical office procedures.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Demonstrated skill utilizing computerized medical record.

Familiarity with medical-legal guidelines.

Excellent customer services experience with emphasis on strong oral communication skills, telephone etiquette in dealing with patient/public contacts.

Excellent written communication skills including punctuation, spelling, neatness and knowledge of business letter format.

Demonstrated skill organizing and prioritizing work with multiple interruptions.

Computer experience with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or comparable applications.

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Demonstrated strength managing complex relations.

Demonstrated independent problem solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to be accurate and attentive to detail.

Licensure/Registration/Certification:

Willing to become Notary Public within 6 months of employment.

Additional Information:
This position is part time at 20 hours per week.
