Job Description

This position is responsible for providing direct patient care including: obtaining histories, examining patients, ordering appropriate labs and x-rays, performing minor procedures, discussing treatments with treatment plans and following up with patients, and interacting regularly with other healthcare providers. Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)

Experience:

Emergency Medicine experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must have the ability to understand the English language.
Must have the ability to read and write in English.
Must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively over the telephone.
Must have the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Must be able to communicate with patients, family members and colleagues effectively.
Must be skilled in various suturing / Splinting techniques.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
Physician Assistant Certification through National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Current Minnesota license.
Must complete ACLS/BLS.
ATLS/PALS recommended

Additional Information:

No new graduates
Minimum of 3 Years ED experience and/or completed an EM Residency/Fellowship
