Regions Hospital, a private, nonprofit teaching hospital and verified Level I Trauma Center for both adults & children, has a great leadership opportunity to join our Surgical Services leadership team as the Operating Room Nurse Manager. Regions Hospital has 21 operating rooms which includes a hybrid OR and two (2) daVinci Xi robots. We are a busy OR with over 14,000 surgical procedures performed annually with surgical specialties including: orthopedic, neurosurgical, peripheral vascular, cardiovascular, plastics, ENT, general, OB-GYN, eye, urology, colo-rectal and burn.
The Nurse Manager reports to the Director of Nursing for Surgical Services and closely partners with the Surgical Services Managers for Preop/PACU/Phase II, Anesthesia, Sterile Processing and HealthPartners Same Day Surgery, along with a Nurse Educator. This position has 9 direct reports with six being service line supervisors and has fiscal and human resource responsibility for over 100 FTEs including Registered Nurses, Certified Surgical Technologists and Surgical Assistants. The unit consists of a blend of both veteran and new staff. A collaborative relationship with surgeons and anesthesiologists, CRNAs, residents and fellows is important and required of this role.
The primary purpose of the manager is to ensure that exceptional perioperative care and services are available to our patients and surgical staff. This position is responsible for creating an environment conducive to recruiting and retaining staff while effectively using clinical and financial information to establish and meet budgetary goals. The manager is also responsible for ensuring internal and external regulatory standards are met, ensure high customer satisfaction, lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, performance improvement and more.
This is a full time 40 hours a week position with 24/7 operational responsibility.
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, or Associate degree in Nursing and Baccalaureate degree in a related field,
Masters degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Education, Health Sciences, Behavioral Sciences, Life Sciences or Business
Currently enrolled in a Masters degree program with an established date of completion
Four (4) years (8,320 hours) perioperative / post op experience with two (2) years (4,160 hours) in a nursing leadership position (e.g. Assistant Nurse Manager, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, Team Leader).
Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of Minnesota
ACLS certification preferred within 6 months of employment
