Job Description

The Regions Hospital Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (ADAP) has been helping people since 1972. As part of this team, the LADC provides assessment of chemical use problems, creates and monitors individualized treatment plans, provides family counseling and chemical health counseling services to individuals with chemical abuse problems; and performs related duties as assigned. Works with patients 18 years and older.

About the program:
We believe recovery is a process, not an event, and everyone's path to recovery is different. These principles guide our clients through a full range of services from engagement to intervention, treatment, rehabilitation and support. We have strong relationships with social service and county agencies, and financial and housing organizations, and we help our clients connect with community resources to support long-term recovery. This program is designed for people who need a supportive environment, but who do not need medically supervised detoxification. There are both outpatient and residential programs available. There are also special services for clients being treated for more than one disorder.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited chemical dependency counselor training program and an Associate degree.
A Bachelor degree is strongly preferred.

Experience:
At least one year of outpatient or inpatient program experience. Will consider 880 hour internship in an accredited Chemical Health Training Program as equivalent to 1 year experience.
2 additional years of work experience in chemical health may be substituted for degree.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Must not have had a felony conviction or have been incarcerated as a result of a felony conviction in the last three years. Must be free of chemical use problems for a period of two years. Must have successfully completed a background study in accordance with Minnesota Rule 11.
Ability to communicate with people and fellow employees.
Ability to use the twelve core dimensions of counseling with clients.

Licensure/Registration/Certification:

Must have a valid drivers license and the ability to be insured to drive via Regions Hospital standards and policies
Minnesota Alcohol and Drug Counselor license
