Job Description

Under the immediate direction of the nurse, the ERT performs non-professional nursing care tasks for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and other duties deemed necessary to provide an environment conducive to patient care.

As an Emergency Room Technician, you will perform delegated patient care functions within the Emergency Department to include:
Assisting nursing staff with patient room placement, transfers and discharges on a consistent basis
Assisting patients with ADL's, including wound cleansing, bathing, skin care, feeding, positioning, and assisting with transfers and ambulations
Assisting patient with bowel and bladder elimination
Collecting routine patient specimens per EPIC orders
Operating patient care equipment (e.g. beds, IV poles, equipment carts) safely
Responding to patient call lights and requests promptly

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
High school degree or equivalent required. Plus, one of the following:
Graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program and/or Emergency Medical Technician training program

OR
Experience in an acute care or long term care setting as a Nursing Assistant and/or past work experience as an Emergency Room Tech or Emergency Dept Tech. (2080 hours worked experience)

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required upon start of employment and demonstrates every two years thereafter competency in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The year when demonstration of competency is not required, a general review of CPR is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to properly lift up to fifty pounds, lifts with assistance over 100 pounds on a daily basis.
Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
Ability to work with computer documentation system utilizing mouse and keyboard.
Demonstrates the ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: EMT and/or NA certification.
