Job Description

The EMS Instructor is primarily responsible instruction of the basic and first responder level EMS courses, with the ability to play a lead role. This position instructs courses independently and cooperatively with per diem instructors. The instructor may participate in the development of curriculum at the basic level. The EMS instructor duties include participation in mandatory prepatory meetings, preparation and clean-up of classroom and skills materials/equipment including driving to off-site locations, evaluation of material, active participation in the improvement of this material, taking a lead role when appropriate, and supporting program development and special projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Associates degree preferred
DOT or NAEMSE instructor course completion preferred

Experience:
1 year full-time (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in pre-hospital, emergency or critical care settings
Preferred 1 year of this work experience within five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credentialed field.
6 months of teaching experience prior to being hired.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

Ability to communicate in person, in writing and by telephone

Aptitude to establish working relationships with the public, our medical direction customers and employees

Maintenance of professionalism and a standard of excellence with Regions employees, managers, customers and public

Competency to work independently, with autonomy and to meet deadlines

Keen sense of organization and prioritization

Working knowledge of pre-hospital medicine, the MN EMSRB and WI DHS requirements, the American Heart Association, and national registry standards

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time

Possess a valid drivers license

Maintenance of a clean driving record

Licensure/Registration/Certification:
Current Minnesota and Wisconsin EMT certification or- certification in Minnesota or Wisconsin as EMT and eligibility to obtain the other within 3 months of hire

Wisconsin Level 2 instructor or eligibility to obtain within 9 months of hire

Preferred Advanced EMT or Paramedic certification
