Job Description

Under the direction of the Vice President of Patient Care Services, the Director of Nursing provides leadership for Emergency Medicine Services at Regions Hospital. The Director of Nursing responsible for directing, planning, coordinating and managing the activities associated with patient care in the emergency department. In collaboration with the Medical Director Dyad and the Director of Emergency Medicine Practice and Finance, is involved in business planning and program development and the growth for Emergency Services at Regions Hospital. Is responsible for administrative oversight, planning and evaluation of Regions Emergency Department in Dyad relationship with Medical Director. Collaborates with appropriate departments in promoting Best Care Best Experience for patients and families.

This position works in a dyad with Regions Hospital Emergency Department Medical Director to continuously improve care and services provided to patients and their family members. This position, in collaboration with the ED Director of Professional Practice and Finance, will provide strategic, operational and financial planning for the Regions Hospital emergency department, including the ability to problem solve at multiple levels within the organization, work with diverse teams to accomplish organizational goals, facilitate multi-disciplinary improvement teams, and provide leadership on a daily basis to improve the culture within the emergency department and between the emergency department and other health care operational units.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Masters Degree in a health care profession, business, health care administration or organizational leadership program, required.
Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's Degree in Nursing required.

Experience:
Minimum of five years of progressive leadership/management experience in a hospital setting.
Previous clinical and/or leadership experience in Emergency Services required.

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in state of Minnesota.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of management and leadership practices in the areas of budgeting, personnel management, conflict management and principle-based leadership.
Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships with all levels of management and employees from all internal and external departments.
Ability to thrive in a constantly changing, competitive environment, with many simultaneous high priorities.
Ability to plan, organize, direct and implement functions and systems supportive of the clinical and business aspects of the assigned areas.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to delivery of health care including knowledge of EMTALA, Medicare guidelines, HIPPA, workers compensation, patient bill of rights, confidentiality of patient information etc. required.
Strong public relations skills in relating to staff, customers, hospital employees and medical group employees, administration and executives.
Ability to think creatively and proactively and support a work environment that values diversity and encourages problem solving and decision making at the most appropriate level.
Skilled in budgeting, setting targets for clinical and business outcomes and executing action plans to achieve results.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: ENA membership preferred.
