The Coding Lead is responsible for leading coding efforts and improving the overall quality and completeness of clinical documentation. Performs internal quality coding and documentation reviews to ensure coding compliance and complete, accurate and consistent documentation and coding that result in appropriate reimbursement and data quality. Works with the coding team and physicians to improve the accuracy, integrity and quality of patient data, to ensure minimal variation in coding practices and improve the quality of physician documentation within the body of the medical record to support code assignments. Monitors coding workload and serves as the main resource for daily coding issues and questions. Provides coder specific education, global coding education, and physician documentation education based on review findings and trends.
MINIMUM STARTING WAGE: $24.16 per hour; you may be eligible for a higher rate of pay based on transferable skills and/or direct work experience.
QUALIFICATIONS: Coding Certification through AHIMA or AAPC preferred. 1-3 years coding experience preferred. Experience using encoding and grouping software and use of a computerized medical information system.
