This position will primarily work as a cook, and in a secondary role as a Dietary Aide, on a temporary basis (for no more than 89 days). The start and end times are variable based on department needs. Cooks and Bakers perform a wide variety of duties all associated with food handling, i.e.; cleaning, sanitizing, receiving, storing, preparing, and serving appetizing and nutritious food. Following the standardized recipes and utilizing recommended cooking/baking techniques. Knowledgeable of manufacture ingredient labels in relation to food allergies/intolerances and therapeutic diet restrictions.
MINIMUM STARTING WAGE: $13.20 per hour; you may be eligible for a higher rate of pay based on transferable skills and/or direct work experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:Cooks must have positive customer service skills and strong leadership abilities. We are seeking team leaders who treat patients, residents, customers and coworkers with understanding, kindness and respect. Qualified candidates must be resourceful problem solvers, willingness to serve as positive role models and thrive in a fast-paced team environment, and deliver superior quality in all that they do. Must have a minimum of one year of cooking and or baking experience in an institutional (prefer Healthcare) type work environment. Ability to problem solve in utilizing tally sheets. Must be able to demonstrate math skills inclusive of: adjusting recipes to accommodate changing facility census to avoid over/under production. Ability to discern the difference in size and purpose of serving utensils. Understand standard portions and the importance of portion control. Must be able to read, write, understand and verbally communicate in English.
